Abbey Interiors (1979-1983)  

 

From 1974 to 1985, Lyn taught Visual Arts at Loretto Abbey, a private girls' highschool in North Toronto. "The Abbey", Motherhouse for the Loretto Sisters as well as a highschool, is a stone Gothic structure filled with fascinating antiques and rooms.

Lyn was permitted to walk freely throughout the cloister and to draw items such as vases, an English harp, stain - glass windows, and parlour settings.

​

The technique used: she photographed the drawings and traced them in charcoal on prepared masonite panels and applied bright colours of a thinner mixture of oil paint. Often she incorporated the "drip" as part of the composition.
